On a trip with friends you pay in several currencies, someone covers more than others and in the end nobody knows who owes what. Apps that convert everything to a single currency leave balances that do not match what was actually paid.
And trips —the mountains, the plane— are exactly when there is no signal.
The technical solution
Minkay is a Kotlin Multiplatform app with Compose for Android and iOS, split into feature modules (expenses, groups, personal debts, reports, currency, notifications) on top of angel-kit.
Every amount is stored with its currency and balances are added and settled per currency, with no conversion. It is offline-first: it records without connection in the local database (SQLDelight) and syncs with Firebase when the signal returns. The read-only web dashboard is built with Next.js. Minkay Pro is charged with Mercado Pago from Cloud Functions.
